Professional Experience

JOSHUA BEST practices in the areas of general corporate & business law and real estate. Mr. Best's general corporate and business practice includes assisting clients with:

  • Entity formation, maintenance and dissolution (corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, etc.)
  • Complex shareholder agreements, partnership agreements and operating agreements
  • Secured transactions
  • E-commerce and internet law issues (e.g., website terms of use, privacy policies, etc.)
  • Drafting and negotiating confidentiality agreements, and assisting with certain privacy law compliance issues such as California's notification law in the event of breach of computer systems (e.g., hacking, theft)

As part of his real property practice, Mr. Best assists clients with:

  • Drafting and negotiating residential and commercial leases
  • Residential and commercial landlord/tenant disputes
  • Property tax reassessment issues and property tax appeals
  • Purchase/sale transactions
  • Promissory notes, deeds of trust and loan modification agreements

Community

Mr. Best is a member of the Ventura County Bar Association and the Ventura County Barristers. He attended the California State Bar's 2010 three-day intensive seminar "Real Estate Boot Camp". He also volunteers as a leader of the high school and middle school groups at his church in Newbury Park.

Education

Mr. Best graduated cum laude from the Pepperdine University School of Law, where he earned a certificate from the Center of Entrepreneurship and Technology Law and was selected as a member of the national legal honor society, Phi Delta Phi. Mr. Best graduated with honors from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, earning bachelor's degrees in both business administration and management information systems. While at Point Loma, he competed in sprints, hurdles and relays as a four-year member of the men's track team.

Personal

Mr. Best is a southern California native, raised in San Dimas. Both his parents were among the first group of students to attend Newbury Park High School the year it opened. Mr. Best lives in Newbury Park with his wife and two young daughters. He enjoys playing basketball, snowboarding and participating in most any other sport, but he especially enjoys spending time with family.
