01-22-10 | Navigating Complex HR Laws Focus of New Roundtable
"HR Management Strategy Roundtable," a monthly employment law seminar directed toward business owners, executives, and human resource administrators, will launch on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 7:30 to 9 a.m., at the Best Western Posada Royale in Simi Valley. Attorney Karen Gabler, a well-known employment law expert, will lead the series of informational meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
"My goal in hosting these programs is to provide employers and managers with proactive tips and strategies to effectively navigate California’s myriad of employment laws and avoid costly employee disputes," noted Ms. Gabler.
The January HR Management Strategy Roundtable will bring attendees up to date on the legislative changes for 2010 and new case law decided in 2009. Among the topics to be discussed are: social media policies to protect the workplace and avoid liability, flexibility in meal and rest periods, recognizing and avoiding employee classification errors, wage and hour pitfalls and the latest discrimination cases. Ms. Gabler will provide detailed information on the issues that cause the most headaches for employers. Additionally, guests will receive seminar materials describing almost 100 workplace tips and legal updates. Specific questions are encouraged.
With a reputation as a powerful and tenacious litigator, Ms. Gabler has counseled employers on virtually every aspect of employment law for more than 17 years. A large part of her practice concentrates on proactive employment strategies her clients can implement to foster workplace productivity and prevent future legal problems.
